Hi Garikai,
This is a tricky one, since I started using Ubuntu on 9.04 I first tried
the mailing list for help, and struggled to keep up there, then I was
invited to #ubuntu-za and had to even be told how to get there, and
since then I have grown with Ubuntu knowing there was always someone to
help me on #ubuntu-za . In South Africa many of us have no choice but to
use a 3g connection. And data is expensive and both twitter and Facebook
eat data. We do have a facebook page for Africa and a twitter account.
@ubuntuinafrica but they aren't monitored all the time. Where irc uses
maybe 10 meg of data a day and thats all day and half the night online.
Also Ubuntu was started and built on irc and all council meetings and
applications for Ubuntu Membership are all done on irc. We have 3
membership board members on the irc channel and are expecting a council
member or two to attend our first meeting. We have a bot that does
meeting minutes etc. all in place. I cannot expect visitors to change
all ubuntu traditions to suit us few. manulite and zxsinclair have
already joined the irc channel. Will you please consult with them and
let me know?
Best regards
Miles
