As a follow up to my earlier email, I discovered that crossplatformui.deb
is not easy to find on the modem by default. So for those who want to use
the Powertel Modem in Ubuntu please download the relevant file by following
the link here http://jumbofiles.com/cas17ur7z962
or here
http://www.mediafire.com/?78nrtfb2o06q2sh
Open terminal and type sudo dpkg -i
~/Downloads/CrossPlatformUI-V2.0.6-i386-ubuntu.deb
When the installation is done( Please ignore the warning and cursing of
dpkg) the connecting program- ZTE- will be available under Internet on the
menu. For Unity users open HUD and type ZTE. When the App is launched click
on the settings tab and change the username and password from card to 111.
As an aside the username and password can be changed to any triple digit
number from 111-999 so long as the username and password match.
