worked perfectly well yesterday and today it doesn't. I have completely
uninstalled it an reinstalled. Everything works except for calc. When I try
to open a spreadsheet/excel file it greys out and freezes. At the bottom
left hand corner it says "calculating". It just hangs there. Now when I run
Writer or Impress, they work fine, but after trying to run Calc, they too
do not open.I have to re-boot to get Write and Impress to work. If I reboot
and try and run Calc from the command line (using localc), I get the
following error messages:

expectations

it does not work well with the unity desktop.

Ubuntu 14.04 does not ship with version 5 of LibreOffice, how did you add
it to your system (if by PPA, which PPA)? I have found a similar error to
yours from another user that installed LibreOffice 5 in Xubuntu 14.04 so
yours is not an isolated case. I would also not recommend upgrading GTK as
that would break more than it will fix.

16.04 off course.

Could it be a corrupted config setting in the home folder for calc? Maybe
just clear that first. I'm not in front of my pc, so you would have to
hunt it down, should be a hidden folder like .config.
