[ubuntu-za] 12.04 Applications crash

I have upgraded to 12.04 and everything looks good except that I don't
have any sound - just as i didn't when I went to 8.04 and 10.04 :-(

And GIMP crashes on me quite regularly. It seems to be prone to crash
just after  I save a file. I have tried re-installing Gimp but the
problem seems to continue.

Today I have a new application also crashing: blueman-applet. I have
never heard of blueman-applet so am not too fussed about him.

There is a little red goodie that comes up next to the other red
goodie that tells me that I have updates waiting. I follow that trail
(and send off the crash report) but nothing makes any sense to me.

Any ideas?
