Not that it does anything to solve your problem, but I have the same
modem, plugged directly into the computer, and it works fine. I must say
however that I have all four bars visible, whereas my 3G phone only
shows 3 bars visible.

Suggestion, Call your service provider and get them to just check it
while you are online. they have ways of watching your connection
