[ubuntu-za] A little niggle with Unity on 12.04

The little niggle that I have is when running some programs the File,
Edit, View, etc etc overwrites the Desktop header making both the header
and the programs header illegibly.
Please tell me how I fix this.
I am running this on my Toshiba laptop running an Intel® Pentium(R) Dual
CPU T3200 @ 2.00GHz × 2 with 1200x800(16:10) display
