In "Appearance" you can customise your theme, and in there you can select an
icon set. But that is probably not your problem. After a quick google I
found the following:

open nautilus (your directory browser) and click on "edit" and "preferences"

> change your "Icon View Defaults" zoom level to your desired size. you can
