Definitely, I actually find OpenOffice far superior to MS Office.
Everything is more logical.

For example, if you want to change the layout of a page:

   - In OpenOffice: Format > Page (makes sense)
   - In Word 2003: File > Page Setup (why? it has nothing to do with the
   file...)
   - In Word 2007
