[ubuntu-za] k10temp unreliable CPU thermal sensor; monitoring disabled

Hi everyone

I have been getting the following error at boot every since installin
maverick:

k10temp unreliable CPU thermal sensor; monitoring disabled

The boot is also low graphics (even if booted from a live cd using
opensource display drivers).
There is a bug report filled on launchpad (
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/653770), but it has
still to be assigned as far as i can see.

Has anyone else had this error or can offer any solutions?
I have an AMD phenom II x 4 processor and fairly new Asus motherboard.
