[ubuntu-za] Acer vs HP boot time

I have an Acer Aspire 5720Z (Intel T2330 Pentium Dual Core), running
10.04. It boots in just under 1 minute. I got the opportunity to
switch to an HP 530 also running 10.04 which booted in 30 seconds. But
when I looked at the specs the HP had a Intel T2300 (Centrino Duo)
processor. It also only had half the RAM.

So a 1 minute boot time is good and 30 seconds even better, but
"slightly weaker" processor booted in half the time. This was quite
surprising? Why such a big difference? Ok, part of it is due to the
fact the that Acer BIOS takes almost 15 seconds to load vs the HP BIOS
that loads in just over 5 seconds.

Does this mean that the one vendor's hardware is better than the
other's? Or could the Acer's boot time be improved?

Regards
Charl
