From personal experience as a new user on Linux, I had less driver issues with Ubuntu than I have on all our company windows pc's!
And I found it easier to diagnose and resolve issues (networking, printer settings) than the windows pc's. I thinl what helps is the fact that you learn and know, how stuff links together better on Linux, than windows, where you'd normally just click-click-click-oops!
off topic, but you really get sharks for technical support guys, my dads home network was having problems, he had 2 different guys there, for 4-5 hours each, they did not resolve his issues, and charged him R500 p/h! Took me 5min when I visited them over easter, basic domain settings problem.
Or you hear about computer companies charging people for free anti-virus software and spyware, that makes my blood boil.
