I think Sony VAIO is also a very good option. 
I have Ubuntu installed on that laptop about 4 months ago and NO
problems.
Even the upgrade to 9.04 was NO problem, that I can not say about my
desktop machine, I had to get back to 8.04 on that computer, I mean my
desktop with a 64 bit processor.
