Move your home directory and create a new one. Copy all your files to 
the new directory but don't copy the hidden config files. You will also 
need .mozilla* and .purple if you use Pidgin. It takes only a few 
minutes. You can test if this will work by creating a new test user 
first and see if the problem still exists.
