Hi folks.

Add one more to the Linux count. I had some *fun* last night with my
XP box, when it started misbehaving after I installed my 3G card in a
PCMCIA adapter. After some troubleshooting, and the required reboots,
removes, curses etc, I unplugged my data drive, popped in the Ubuntu
9.04 CD that's been staring at me for weeks and did the unthinkable :
I formatted my trusty XP machine and ended up with a spiffy-looking,
alien, unknown interface. The fun started right away, of course : No
software haha!

Ok, I managed to get things customised, have some idea of how to get
things done in the terminal (old Mandrake skills from tech days) and
am now downloading NetBeans and the JDK to see if I can do all my
development on Ubuntu. Previously I used a older machine running
OpenSuse to test my applications for Linux users, but the main aim now
is to get to the point where I only use Linux.

So thank you for this group, the mails make for interesting reading,
and I fully expect to be digging in the archives for weeks to get
myself sorted out.

Another punch-drunk newbie Linux user

Ewald
