[ubuntu-za] Preparing for Hardy

Actually I did the upgrade to Gutsy with no problems at all. My reason for
doing a new install is that I want to get away from my dual boot with Vista
and rather use VirtualBox and XP to run those few Windows applications that
I still can't get away from. Any advice on VirtualBox would be appreciated.

But I still have to get the hardy disk and am a bit far away still from
doing the upgrade!

I think that I have figures out how to do my tar backup:

tar cvpzf backup.tgz --exclude=/home/bill/.Trash
--exclude=/home/bill/.thumbnails --exclude=/home/bill/Pictures
--exclude=/home/bill/Documents/PrivateStuff --exclude=/home/bill/backup.tgz
/home/bill

I am excluding a lot of stuff that I already have backed up on other
machines and which are pretty large! That gives me a 600+ MByte backup file
to take to the new configuration.
