It didn't like this command.

Anyway now I am stuck. This is an older machine and I did have a Puppy
distro working on it with 1024x768 and 800x600 with a different monitor.
After switching around monitors I see that it's still failing.

I then booted off a live CD for puppy Linux distro. The puppy distro allowed
me to select 800x600 24 for this monitor it worked fine.
Here are some notes of what worked in Puppy Linux using Xorg

800x600 24
Horizontal frequency 53.7214 Khz
Refresh Frequency 85.1369 Hz

I then rebooted off the Xbuntu Alternate install Cd and got a pretty screen
with options to fix a system. At this point I am lost and getting
depressed. Can someone please tell me what I have to do to make this work?
There has to be a command I can use to get a selection of video
modes/resolutions, test them out and save them.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Rich
