At UDS Unity/Xorg issues were discussed in several sessions, and there
are various plans afoot to make things better.

Yes, Unity with compiz is the plan of record as of UDS.  Regarding
accessibility, TheMuso is doing a rotation onto the Unity team
specifically to work on accessibility issues.
