[ubuntu-x] Requesting driver backports

Heya all,

Speaking of driver backports, it would be great if someone could take on
the task of requesting driver backports for older ubuntu releases.

It should be fairly straightforward and is documented[0] in the wiki:

For each driver in (-intel, -ati, -nv, ...), do:
  1. For each dist in (hardy, gutsy, ...)
    a. Get the current source from Intrepid
    b. Build it on $dist
    c. If it builds fine, file a bug via
        https://launchpad.net/products/$dist-backports/+filebug

        "Please backport $driver from Intrepid
         Current version: <old-version>
         New version: <intrepid-version>
I built it successfully on $disk with no source changes needed.
Benefits include better support for newer and older gfx hw.
        "

Since we've just now finished pulling in the latest drivers for
Intrepid, right now would be a perfect time to do the above. Who'd like
to give the above a shot?

Bryce
