Hi Bryce (et al),
Here are some gtkperf numbers taken with an i386 machine and a X3100
(965GM) card (see below). I'm also getting stuttering fullscreen video
playback with the new driver + compiz as mentioned earlier by others. I
also found a performance testing utility called x11perf but it wasn't as
slick as gtkperf so I didn't bother with it.
Also FYI; I can confirm that this bug still exists in 2.3.1:

As for the performance:
WITHOUT compiz pixbufs got faster but everything else got slower
including text rendering and scrolling which took 67% longer with the
new driver.
WITH compiz every single benchmark is slower with the new driver (except
GtkEntry which is equal).
