Hi everyone,
As Cheri has announced[0], nominations are now open for the 3 spots in
the Ubuntu Women leadership trio.
Given the increased commitments I have taken on with my day job,
writing, and traveling recently, I find myself with considerably less
time than I used to have for volunteer work. Upon evaluation, I've
decided to step back from my involvement with Ubuntu Women, as it's a
project I've been involved with for the longest (8 years!) but for
which I see great potential from women in our community to step up and
fill my role.
As such, I won't be putting my name in for the upcoming leadership
election, and want to encourage others to do so:
http://wiki.ubuntu-women.org/LeadershipElectionProcess/2014 (thanks to
Svetlana for stepping up, but we need more!)
Over the next 4 months, I plan on working with those interested in
helping out, as well as the new leadership team, to hand off the
responsibilities I currently carry for the team. Since I've been
around so long, many of the things I work on I find myself as the only
active admin left, which is something I really should have done a
better job of cultivating over the years (sorry!), but now is a good
opportunity to refresh these resources with women who can fill the
roles.
To this end, I've created a section on my wiki page that details the
current responsibilities I have, along with listing who else has
access to the various resources: http://wiki.ubuntu-women.org/lyz
I'll then be taking 6 months off from the team (the -V cycle), during
which time the leadership team is welcome to contact me with anything
they need, but otherwise I need a break and want to make sure others
have an opportunity to lead.
Thanks everyone.
