Hi Hannah--
You'll probably get plenty of other offers, but I'm happy to help.
Switching from UNR to "standard" Ubuntu doesn't necessarily require a
reinstall; however I'm not familiar with anything Dell has done with
customizing their system so it might take a little bit to figure that
out.

Getting XP running will probably only be a challenge in dealing with
the licensing; the activation for that can be tricky. Depends on the
source of your XP license.

Let me know off-list if I could be assistance. (In addition to email,
I can make myself available on IRC or IM if you'd prefer.) I'll
double-check the UNR->regular procedure in the meantime.
