Hi,

I've been lurking on the ubuntu-women list for quite a while and have
never attended an IRC meeting. I presume one can attend and mostly
listen?

Posting the howto info and timeanddate (to get you local time) seems
very helpful to encourage participation by new folks.

I suggest it could be even better if the latter were listed like:

Get your local time at: http://timeanddate.com/s/1x0c

You can get the shorter URL with a couple clicks on the "fixed date page"
starting with the "Short Url" link (so it does not break in email)
at the bottom of the page.

The reason I continue to lurk here is that in my experience women's
organizations (Linux and otherwise) tend to be much better at being
inclusive and welcoming to new folks which I find very commendable.
My local Linux group ( http://penguinsunbound.org in Twin Cities,
Minnesota, USA) has not been very successful at appealing to women
(and anyone other than middle aged males :( We do a lot better than
the University related Linux group, however which is very geek oriented.

Fred
