Personally I don't discard anything automatically (what is left to
moderate then?) and I let legitimate mails go through, on the lists I
moderate/admin.

I prefer if they mail the list, as the mail folder that receives
*-owner@ mail receives mostly junk from bounces etc., and I read it much
less frequently than I attend the moderation queue...
