Hello all
I attended the meeting last night and I am very excited about the
developments. I don't have enough time/expertise to take on a
leadership role, but I would love to help out in anyway I can. I have
been lurking on this mailing list and in the irc for a while now and
it is my intention of becoming more involved in 2010. Also I think I
need to get to know the community a bit better.
So I will not make a nomination page :D but I am happy to do
documentation on the wiki and spend some time in the irc channel when
I am online and help out for a few hours a week.
I introduced myself a long time ago, but just a recap. I am working as
a C++ programmer in embedded systems at the moment working on a
satellite communication system. We try to use agile development
processes. I code 3 days a week. I also recently completed my
Multimedia art degree and I used only open source software for all my
projects. When I had a bit more time I tried my hand at packaging, but
I got a bit busy and stopped, maybe one day I'll try again. I will be
working on a Masters in New Media part time next year. My artworks
involve installations with cameras and code written in Java
(processing.org) and C++ (openframeworks). (crikey it sounds like a
resume)
As an aside I have been interested in how dispersed, non-homogenous,
online, open source communities function, for a while now. I think
such communities solve team problems in different ways and that
commercial teams can learn a lot from how these problems are solved.
