I started this thread and have alternately regreted my post and been
impressed by the thoughtful replies. I too have felt that I should have
responded already but tho I have composed many lines in my head this is
the first that I've typed anything in reply.

My reply was made in a moment of introspection and made here because I
felt the list was open and welcoming and might have an interesting
perspective on the topic of Gender and email.

I never felt that the gender of writers was fundamental, or "important"
and in that sense "does not matter". On the other hand I do think there
are more subtle aspects of understanding that gender might shed light on.
Tho it may be that those subtleties are usually too subtle for email.

I did NOT google Kadambari Devarajan's name (or anything related).
I did search Wikipedia for Kadambari ( first name only --
probably should have used Wiktionary but at that time that was
not as easy to do on my system). I also browsed her blog
using the url included in her message. I did not think
either of those amounted to "rigmarole" or "cyber-stalking".
Just normal curiousity.

Thanks for mentioning that, I was not aware she had passed.
Apparently related to a fall at age 58 :( I found several of her novels
memorable.

Fred who is male as I mentioned in my intro on this list

on 4/12/08 a few weeks after I subscribed.
