I think having an icon that identifies the group us a great idea (and
not just for launchpad!).

That might work, we'd need to confirm licensing status of that image of course.

I really, really like the Debian Women icon:

As for projects within Ubuntu, a lot work with the Ubuntu Logo
somehow. LoCo teams have logos + country colors/symbols/etc and I like
keeping with that theme. I think the only thing we really need to
avoid is doing something like making the ubuntu logo pink (As much as
*I* would like it, I realize my opinion is far from universal, grin).
