[UbuntuWomen] Ubuntu Women Wiki

This is something I thought about bringing up at the meeting tomorrow,
but I think I'd rather bring it up to the whole group on the list.

At the Community Council meeting a couple weeks ago dinda asked if we
could have the UW Wiki somehow linked to the main Ubuntu wiki. This
cannot be done. Instead we thought we might get rid of our own wiki
entirely and move back to the main Ubuntu Wiki.

I've had some second thoughts about this and believe we should keep our
own wiki.

There are some things to take into consideration.

1. Due to increased activity, we now have links to pages our wiki in
several places within Ubuntu, including the UWN and forums - links would
break unless a series of redirects were put in place.

2. Moving the wiki back to the main Ubuntu wiki would take a lot of
work. We've put a lot of time and effort into our wiki, there are many
pages. We'd also need to update all the links in the website and redo
some of the website structure.

3. Many LoCo teams have their own wikis just like Ubuntu Women does,
this was the inspiration for running our own in the first place :) We
have full administrative control over one we run ourselves.

The major concerns brought up were that we didn't want people to be
confused by the existing main Ubuntu wiki UW page[1] and we wanted our
information to be searchable on the main wiki.

The old wiki can be dissolved and redirected to our existing site, as
was discussed in our last meeting[2]. I am willing to put together a
plan to decommission those pages.

The page addresses will still exist as pages on the main wiki, but we
can take down most of the current content. The text we put will still be
searchable - so if we say something like "The Ubuntu-Women Project
specializing in Mentoring, Courses, blah blah is now located at
ubuntu-women.org with our wiki at..." those terms will still come up and
send people where they need to go.

Thoughts?
