Doh! I just looked at the ubuntu-women.org website, and completely
forgot to check the UbuntuWomen page in the Ubuntu wiki. The UbuntuWomen
page also has some relevant information, but most of the "Our Aims"
section is stuff that I hope to cover in the ContributeToUbuntu document.
Generally, I would like there to be only one site as the one-stop for
the Ubuntu-Women's team. It can either be your own website or the team
page in the Ubuntu wiki - just make sure that whichever page you
discontinue redirects to the other. That will hopefully make it easier
for you to keep maintain as you will only have to update the information
in one place.
I can see that there are a number of advantages to having your own
domain and site (including Planet and Wiki), but there are also some
disadvantages springing from being separated from the rest of the community:
A) it makes the site more difficult to find for interested would-be
contributors
B) it may fuel the concerns about segregation that some people in the
community are voicing.
C) it may make your site unnecessarily complex to navigate compared to
some other team pages.
These problems can be fixed fairly easily. You can get more exposure by
getting a link on http://www.ubuntu.com/community - you should talk to
webmaster Matthew Nuzum about this. And you'll get more exposure in the
Contribute doc, as well.
The segregation concerns can be avoided by clearly informing about the
purpose of the Ubuntu-Women's team for all to see, and I'm sure any
other concerns will disappear as more women begin to participate in the
general community, and I'm sure you doing well with this.
The complexity of your site can be cut a bit, too. I think the wiki is
good, but I think having a separate planet may be too much. Why not
simply post as Ubuntu members on Planet Ubuntu? It will get a lot more
exposure anyway, and you will be promoting women in free software with
every post.. :-)

Well, I've changed it to:
* Encouraging women to use Ubuntu and especially to participate in the
Ubuntu community.
Feel free to change it, if you want. It is a wiki page, after all. :-)
Best regards,
Andreas
