Most (modern) Asus routers can be accessed using ssh, you usually have
to enable this using the web GUI interface.  On my Asus routers this
can be found under Advanced Settings->Adminstration->Service.

Thanks. I didn't bother to look much since once in repeater mode I had
a hard time even finding the router :)  The browser offers things like netstat
dump so it looks like they thought of the cool stuff.

Do you know of routers besides the cheap "travel routers" that let
you tether a phone to a USB WAN port? I bought one router
that claimed that on amazon but it would only take
a modem not a phone on the USB WAN connector.
