Indeed, you are correct.

My information appeared to be informative. My new computer is a large
laptop unit that has the word Infinity on it. A very "chunky" device (cost
me about 1500 Australian dollars - 780 British pounds) which also appears
to be quite fast. How do I know this? Because my own programs demonstrate
something which took about 40 milliseconds on my old laptop appears only to
take about 3 on the new one.

I will look into that.

I obliterated Windows as soon as I got it out of the box. A Windows DVD was
included, but there appears to be no drive - perhaps they assumed I might
get an external one if I needed to.

Your tips are helpful. I was thinking of upgrading Ubuntu to 22.04.1 and
see if this would help; perhaps you can offer advice here?
Thank you.
Owen.
