Failure installing Ubuntu 24.04 on an USB stick

Hi!
Here's an addendum.
I've tried to install Ubuntu 24.04 with its installer. It didn't work
previously with the crappy USB stick I had. Now I've tried with a better
(much faster) one.
The installation still fails, but in a different way. I get through the
questions and it begins installing. Then a window pops up, with the title
"System Program Problem Detected". Then comes a window titled "Something
went wrong" and the text "We're sorry, but we're unsure what the error is.
..."
That 24.04 installer seems to be seriously broken. At least when you try to
install to an USB stick.
