Thanks for the recommend. I had a read through the launchpad article 
(shout out to Oli for supplying a link!)

And was about to look a little further when your message came in. I looked through the folder name and none of the subs had any content, so I did move them to a tmp status and restarted chrome... Worked fine! I have rummaged through the browser and functionality seems to be stable so I've removed the tmp folder.
