Hi,

unless I'm missing something related to the dependency tree, I don't
notice this for digikam on Arch Linux, OTOH it's bloatware anyway.
You'll not find much software with such a huge and partly questionable
dependency tree. Keep in mind on Ubuntu "Recommends" is not for a hard
dependency, so IMO everything is good.
Related to Gimp I've only one comment that I can do. I migrated from
Gimp to Krita a long time ago. In general, I actually liked Gimp a lot
more than Krita originally, but Gimp gradually becomes more intolerable
as Krita gets better and better. For me its way more noticeable on the
real rolling release Arch Linux, than on my Ubuntu flavour LTS installs
;). Just drop Gimp, it was excellent many years ago, but nowadays it's
shit! Install Krita, get used to Krita!
