Hello.

In response to Colin Law (this message may start a new thread - I do not
know - it is composed as a new message, on the respective computer,
rather than on the computer upon which, I read and respond to incoming
email).

I found why no response was displayed, for the
apt policy
commands invoked as root; when initially trying to send the message, the
spellchecker showed that I had mistyped gnumeric, as "gmumeric". when I
entered the first command, and, copied and pasted that, and appended the
"-common" to the mistyped command.

It had not occurred to me, to check the characters entered. :(

My error.
