Does somebody use both, current Intel and AMD tower PCs?

I mostly just compile code and do some light-weight CAD (no 3D modeling).  
"Average" cpu performance is more than good enough -- I don't need "real time" 
performance.  I don't play video games (the only game I have played is empire 
and it is happy to run in a plain xterm).
