I did know about Mycroft, but not the former. I think it is one of
those things where it will come in time, but it may take quite a while
to catch up.
Sadly, IBM has a bad habit of acquiring very interesting open source
companies, absorbing them, and their products disappearing forever.
For example, some friends of mine worked with a remarkable product
called Rembo Toolkit. Little trace of it remains after it was bought
by IBM.

IBM is not alone in this of course: Sun Microsystems did the same.
