there are things like https://cmusphinx.github.io/ and
https://github.com/MycroftAI ... i used to work with the latter team
for a while because they were planning to build an UbuntuCore based OSS
"alexa" ... but sadly IBM bought them before the project finished, not
sure what the state is today or if everything is even still OSS today
... (they started as a kickstarter project back in the days)
i guess none of the speech recognition voluntary based OSS projects are
as mature as the more company backed ones though ...

PS: and liam, get well soon, i hope to see you at the ubuntu summit in
riga, so better get into an "able to travel" state til november so we
can have beers ;)
