I guessed as much.
I am not aware of anything that is in a useful state on any FOSS OS.

So an iPad 2 and a 2018 Pro?
I have my mother's old iPad 3, the first Retina model. Like a 2, it
too is stuck on iOS 9 and as such is almost useless. I can read books
on it and little more. My ancient Hotmail account still works and is
the only email I have that does on this device.

I didn't even notice. I don't care about light and dark modes; I'd
like them to either be automatic and invisible, or just go away.
Then again, I care a *lot* about keyboard quality, which is why I
don't personally use tablets.

IMHO it is only useful for speech to natural language text. It is
unsuitable for use with a command line, and your efforts reinforce my
opinion.
I know some people who use it for programming but the amount of effort
required does not look worth it for me.
