Try lshw , if you want to use command line stuff. I believe that a more 
aesthetic equivalent, exists, but, I do not remember the name of it.

Otherwise, try, in the menu's, Administration -> "System Profiler and 
Benchmark" . And, if you do not have that installed, use Synaptic to 
find and install it.
