I normally use neomutt as I am now but it was just easier
to use the browser. I use neomutt because I extracted part of
to use as a library with libetpan to download hotmail etal
and do automtaed mail stuff ( remote access without static IP).

I think I saw intel come up in omething
that vlc was complaing about. I did note that IIRS iris_dri and swrast_dri
were not found originall ( again IIRC). The mesa build supplies
versions of these. When I stack traced the FreeFEM graphics
grash, IIRC it died in something called dri but I don't
remember where it was although these are probably suspect,

find /usr/lib -name "*_dri*"
/usr/lib/ubiquity/target-config/31ubuntu_driver_packages
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/i830_dri.so
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/nouveau_vieux_dri.so
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/r600_dri.so
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/i915_dri.so
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/i965_dri.so
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/swrast_dri.so
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/kms_swrast_dri.so
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/radeonsi_dri.so
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/iris_dri.so
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/virtio_gpu_dri.so
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/d3d12_dri.so
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/vmwgfx_dri.so
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/r300_dri.so
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/radeon_dri.so
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/zink_dri.so
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/nouveau_dri.so
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/r200_dri.so
/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/ubuntu_drivers_common-0.0.0.egg-info

The mesa build supplies these and pointing GLUT at them seems
to work

export LIBGL_DRIVERS_PATH=/home/ubuntu/dev/mesa/mesa-20.3.5/build/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri

The FreeFEM graphics still crash in some other modes but those
appear to be pathological cases. vlc also required I download
some other stuff but I'm not sure my history is useful.
It claimed it has not video output or something.

There were a lot of things in apt-cache search specific to
X and Wayland I just downloaded everything :)

Right now anyway I'm up but the original problem, FreeFEM,
had been mentioned by other users on their forum and was
not sure if there is a larger issue.

Thanks.
