Windows XP _was_ a 32-bit OS.

So get the Plop boot manager from http://plot.at and put it on a
floppy. Or, just replace the DVD -- they're about $5 now or something.

If USB is on the boot menu, then it can boot from USB.
Maybe check the BIOS is up to date, and if it's not, update it?

That is what Unetbootin _always_ did.
