A few months ago when I discovered Firefox wasn't able to print (after a
major upgrade or something) I tried the snap connect command and it didn't
seem to work, nor did it suggest why it hadn't, but I happened upon another
procedure that offers feedback.
I opened the Ubuntu Software application, and searched for Firefox. (You
should see the snap in the results with "Installed" and a checkmark.)
Choose that application and click the Permissions button. In my case
Printing had been marked "Disconnected," but I chose ":cups-control" and
Firefox printing has worked as expected since.
As was suggested, the CLI tools could use some refinement, but fortunately
the GUI of Ubuntu Software seems to expose all the permissions and their
statuses.
P.S.: I opened launchpad bug Bug #2047167 to note that the Permissions
dialog in Ubuntu Software does not respect screen height and has to be
moved around using Windows (key)-(left)click drag to see all the
permissions options and statuses.
