Bluetooth OnePlus earbuds not working

I have given up expecting any form of Linux to connect meaningfully to 
BlueTooth devices. Sometimes you might be lucky, but in all the cases I 
have tried, Linux BT and audio software is incapable of creating or 
maintaining a connection. I'm not sure what the core problem is.
