Btw. very good performance, mostly classic window style, but odd themes,
a terrible cursor theme and I had better font rendering on a C64 with
GEOS. It's a visual disaster, but an OOTB well performing environment.
My new hardware is way faster than my old hardware, this is noticeable
when compiling and doing similar things, but there's quasi no difference
when using a bloated GTK based desktop environment, tested with Xfce4.
Even on new, way faster hardware I experience performance lags when
using a DE and mostly GTK apps. LXQT is probably the only DE that
doesn't suffer from "software slows down faster than hardware speeds
up".
Even on my Arch's openbox window manager without a DE, but by mostly
using GTK apps I suffer from more or less the same performance lags on
an aged Celeron dual-core 16 GiB DDR3 and a latest Intel Core quad-core
32 GiB DDR4 based hardware environment. I wonder if GTK requires a
graphics with 3 fans to get rid of performance lags.
