Misspelled password

This sounds very wrong. Please file a bug report somewhere. If you
don't file a bug report, then nothing gets fixed because devs don't
know there is trouble.

A digested password will produce consistent results if the character
set is UTF-8 and the digest algorithm is the same. UTF-8 is portable
across all OSes. Something is sideways if two different programs
produce different results for the same password.
