there likely is a solution for continuing maintaining your server
install.
I have to admit that my daily used desktop is running Arch Linux and
Ubuntu 16.04 is just a fallback for desktop usage. Actually a lot of
desktop apps might be more or less rendered useless on Ubuntu 16.04
nowadays, but probably server related software, especially if it's from
"main", might be still well supported.
