Battery is not charging

What's happening on the hard disks should not affect the battery in
any way. Something else happened or went wrong and I think what you
are seeing is a coincidence.

 I recommend you upgrade the machine's firmware.

Since you have not told us the exact model I can't tell you what the
current firmware version is or how to update it.
