Hi there.
I have a Canon Canoscan Lide 300, which should be the (or one of the)
predecessor(s) of the Lide 400. It works fine, mostly, on my Ubuntu 22.04
system.

I connect it over an active USB hub and it works.

I didn't have to cope with drivers at all. It worked out of the box. The
scanner is recognized and the right driver loaded automatically.

I have sort of a problem since Ubuntu 22.04, with the XSane scanner program.
The progress bar and (in the preview scan) the display of the image while
being scanned, don't work. Instead, I get a message from Ubuntu, stating
that XSane doesn't answer, and asking if I want to terminate it. I just need
to wait until the scan is completed, and it all works again. The message
disappears and the scanned image appears. I can live with it.
Cheers,
Volker
