Hi,

IIRC the default user of Ubuntu flavour live media is 1001, instead of
the default user 1000 of an Ubuntu flavour install and the installs of
almost all other distros on bare metal.

Making the default user 1001 for live media makes sense, to protect the
home of the common first user 1000 of installs on bare metal, since 1000
usually is a special user associated with sudo cow powers.

I don't know how 1001 found its way in the home of 1000, but maybe it's
not located there, I didn't receive the beginning of this thread. I
can't comment on the group abakus. Maybe Google can?
