Hi,
New to the list so didn't have original email to reply to.
I had a similar issue on my laptop, which I just set up for VNC.
I'd already disabled sleep on lid close, and while logged in, etc.
So it was fine while logged in but not when the desktop user logged out.
But it turns out that GDM3 (which on my system handles the login
screen), has separate settings for when to suspend.
On my system I believe the default was 20 minutes/1200 seconds.
I think all I had to do was change the following lines in
/etc/gdm3/greeter.dconf-defaults
sleep-inactive-ac-timeout=0
sleep-inactive-ac-type='nothing'
There are corresponding lines for battery power, but I probably do want
the system to go to sleep after 20 minutes if not plugged in.
